The air inside the cabin was unsettled

Their leaving abrupt

The stone hearth fire burned low

Only a bed of orange embers shone

Above hung a kettle forgotten

Water long gone cold

Plates were placed perfectly on the table across from each other

Forks lay on the top of the leftover food

Chairs pushed back from the table

A coat lies crumbled on the floor

Muddy boots next to it

One upright, one laid on its side

The back door slightly ajar

Letting in the cool draft from outside

It stirs the strands of my loose...

My body goes through changes

Stretching to form the life growing inside me

The day comes for you to arrive

Fluids gushing from me

Labor takes twelve hours

Finally, I hold you in my arms

Sleepless nights start now

There's joy in rocking you back to sleep

Hoping I am a good mom

Knowing I'll do anything for you

Those nights fly by

Now, you're dressing yourself

Mismatched socks, pants , and a shirt that don't...

My American Ride drew me in from the first page! Reading every chapter had me feeling all the feels from the characters, I felt like I was there experiencing everything with them! Great job Danielle, super excited to narrate this for you and to read your other books!

– Stephanie Betschart- My American Ride

Definitely kept my attention. Always guessing what was going to happen next. Highly recommend

– Amber Gray- My American Ride

I am always looking for children's books for my son - he is 18 and autistic but mentally four- and books with tons of words - I know all he can hear is "blah, blah, blah".

This book about Detta the little girl and Gobi the cheetah, he loved. Great little story, of friendship, that you should listen to your parents, mummies, treasure, and empathy.

The illustrations were wonderful! I would defintely say it would be a great story for 4-7 year olds! Highly recommend!
